Ormhilleren i Øygarden "Blå korall"

Ormhilleren friluftsområde ligger naturskjønt til ved Rongesundet bro i Øygarden. I friluftsområdet og området rundt er det flere stier gjennom skog, lynghei og ut langs svabergene på vestsiden. I området er det fine forhold for bading, fiske, tur og rekreasjon.

GPS-sporet i dette turforslaget følger grusvei frem til badeplassen og et stykke videre mot kunsverket Blå Korall. Les mer om dette under lenker. Bergen og Omland Friluftsråd har opparbeidet fint friområde med toalett, grillplass og små teltplasser.

Fra friluftsområdet kan du velge Kyststien langs vestsiden, eller Kystvaktstien langs sjøen under Rongesundet bro. Kystvaktstien starter fra Rongesundet kai og går langs sjøen under broen mot Ormhelleren. Ønsker du en rundtur er det fint å parkere ved den gamle fergekaien på Rong. Start turen sydover langs Kystvaktstien under Rongesundet bro og videre til Ormhilleren Friluftsområde. Fra Ormhilleren går kyststien vestover gjennom lynghei og over svaberg. Underveis har du fin utsikt mot storhavet. En tur opp mot høyeste punktet gir et flott rundskue. Følg veien tilbake til Rongesundet kai.

Det er også en sti som er til minne om Havrettsminister Jens Evensen. Den heter "Ettertankens sti". På Furustien finner Forfatterplassen. Her er en postkasse med en bok for dikt.

Både på innsiden langs Rongesundet, og ut mot svabergene på vestsiden, er det fine fiskeplasser. Lagunen i Ormhilleren friluftsområde blir varm på gode sommerdager. Her kan barna bade og utforske fjæren. Fra den gamle fergekaien i Rongesundet er det lett å sette ut kajakk eller båt fra henger.

Sotra Øygarden Turlag har laga Kystpasset som er eit turhefte med turar frå nord til sør i Øygarden kommune. Her finn du mange flotte turopplevingar og nye løyper for store og små, med ulik vanskelighetsgrad. Det er ein fantastisk moglegheit til å bli kjend med nye områder i kommunen.

Sporløs ferdsel. Allemannsretten gir oss mange muligheter, men innebærer også plikt til å ta vare på naturen. Når du ferdes i naturen plikter du å ikke etterlate mer enn ditt eget fotavtrykk. Sporløs ferdsel innebærer å rydde opp, ta med søppel og å opptre varsomt og hensynsfullt der du ferdes.

The Ormhilleren outdoor area is beautifully situated by the Rongesundet bridge in Øygarden. In the outdoor area and the surrounding region, there are several trails that wind through forests, heathland, and along the smooth rocks on the western side. The area offers great opportunities for swimming, fishing, hiking, and recreation.

The GPS track in this hiking suggestion follows a gravel road to the bathing area and a bit further towards the art installation Blå Korall. You can read more about this under links. Bergen and Omland Outdoor Council has developed a lovely recreational area with toilets, a barbecue spot, and small camping sites.

From the outdoor area, you can choose the Coastal Path along the western side or the Coastal Guard Path along the sea beneath the Rongesundet bridge. The Coastal Guard Path starts from Rongesundet quay and runs along the sea under the bridge towards Ormhilleren. If you want a round trip, it’s nice to park at the old ferry quay in Rong. Start your hike south along the Coastal Guard Path under the Rongesundet bridge and continue to the Ormhilleren Outdoor Area. From Ormhilleren, the coastal path heads west through heathland and over smooth rocks. Along the way, you have a great view of the open sea. A hike up to the highest point provides a fantastic panoramic view. Follow the path back to Rongesundet quay.

There is also a trail dedicated to the former Minister of Fisheries Jens Evensen, called "Ettertankens sti" (The Path of Reflection). On the Furustien, you will find Forfatterplassen (the Author’s Place). Here, there is a mailbox with a book of poems.

Along the inside by Rongesundet and out towards the smooth rocks on the western side, there are good fishing spots. The lagoon in the Ormhilleren outdoor area warms up on nice summer days, providing a great place for children to swim and explore the tidal zone. From the old ferry quay in Rongesundet, it is easy to launch a kayak or boat from a trailer.

Here you will find many great hiking experiences and new trails for both large and small, with varying levels of difficulty. It is a fantastic opportunity to get to know new areas in the municipality.

Leave no trace
The right to roam gives us many opportunities but also comes with the responsibility to take care of nature. When you are in nature, you are obliged to leave no more than your own footprint. Leave no trace means cleaning up, taking your litter with you, and acting carefully and considerately wherever you go.
