Stien går først gjennom granskog og vidare i lauv- og furuskog til du kjem opp i Daurmålsdalen. Nokre bratte og glatte parti på berg etter granfeltet; elles god sti. Stien inn Daurmålsdalen går forbi ei hytte og vidare flatt innover på austsida av vassdraget. Når du kjem til enden av denne flotte dalen går stien bratt opp langs fossen som renn ut av Demmevatnet. Dersom snøen ligg lenge er det kanskje ei snøfonn som ligg oppå stien og fossen i dette bratte partiet. Då er det ikkje forsvarleg å gå vidare. På toppen av det bratte partiet er det ikkje langt til utløpet av Demmevatnet, der merkinga stoppar. (Det er umerka sti vidare til Gjetingsdalen og til Grønrimb.

Råd for turen

- Ta med mat, drikke og vindtette klede.
- Du bør ha fjellstøvlar, men har det vore tørt ei stund kan du også bruke joggesko.
- Mobildekning er god opp til hytta i Daurmålsdalen, men ikkje dekning vidare.
- Vi anbefaler kart og kompass, ev. GPS.
- Det er bandtvang 1. april – 20. august.
- Det er forbode med open eld i skog og mark 15. april - 15. september.
- Til fots kan du ferdast fritt i utmark, men ver varsam og ta omsyn til dyr og fuglar, og til naturen elles. Ikkje kast søppel.
- Turistinformasjonen kan gi opplysningar om fiske og kjøp av fiskekort.

Starting point/parking:

Follow the road going south from Jondal centre. After about 5.5 kmtake the first road leaving to the right at the roundabout. After 1.2 km take a left turn towards Stølheim. If continuing by car a toll fee is asked (payment by cash only). The pay point is 0.4 km further up the road. There is an information board, describing the hikes relating to this area. Follow the road about 0.5 kmand turn to the right (at the Daurmålsdalen sign). After a couple of hundred meters look for a new sign marking the trail to Daurmålsdalen. Cars can park on the side of the road. Parking at own risk.

Description of the hike:

The path starts in a spruce forest and continues through deciduous and pine woods until arriving at the valley called Daurmålsdalen. There are a few inclines after the spruce forest where bare rock can get a bit slippery. The path is otherwise a good one. After arriving at Daurmålsdalen you pass a cabin and continue into the valley on the east side of the river. At the end of this beautiful valley the path takes a steep incline, following the waterfall coming from the lake, Demmevatnet. (If the snow has been slow in melting, there might still be a snowfield covering the path and the waterfall here. In this case we advise you not to continue). It’s not far from the top of the incline to the watershed leading out of Demmevatnet. The hiking markers stop here. (There are unmarked trails going to Gjetingsdalen or to Grønrimb, where you can pick up on other tours.)

Hiking advice

Bring food, drinking water and windproof clothing.

We advise you to use hiking boots. If it’s been dry weather for a while, you could use trainers/sneakers.

We recommend that you bring a map of the area and a compass, or a GPS.

Good cell phone signals up and as far as the Daurmålsdalen cabin, after which there is no coverage.

Dogs must always be kept (by law) on a leash between April 1 and August 20.

Open fire is prohibited in the hills and woods between April 15 and September 15.

You are free to walk anywhere in the hills and mountains. Take care of the nature and show special consideration to all wildlife. Please do not litter.

Ask the Tourist Information regarding angling/fishing and the purchase of fishing permits.
